Gooood morning and happy Tuesday to you all! How was your weekend? Mine was wonderful...but I already covered that yesterday so I’ll leave you with a few descriptive words: restful, friendship, pedicure, praising, quiet. Any words from your weekend to share?

On pushing through plateaus...
I don't know what it is, but lately my workouts have been rough. My runs have been slower than usual, felt long and drawn out, and my workouts have been subpar. My "umph" and "kill mode" factor simply hasn't been there. So I was naturally thinking about pushing through plateaus and was wondering, how do you push through low-motivation workout plateaus? Here are a few tips I employ:
  • Eat "extra" clean. When I'm having trouble kicking my workouts up a notch, I try to focus on my eating. I can't rely on torched calories from a workout if it's not full-out, and therefore can't eat whatever I want (this is a bad habit to get into anyway, but I think we all fall prey to it at times). Remember, you cannot out-train a bad diet! Don't believe me? Check out this video (that I've shared before on the blog):

  • Let's Make a Deal! Yesterday on the treadmill, running inside warmly as a storm was rolling in outside the windows of the gym, I decided to run for 4 - 6 miles. I made it through 2 miles (with a towel over the screen; I didn't want to know how far I had to go!) and took a short walk break. Then I went for two more and walked again. I knew I could have stopped there, but I told myself I could take that 5th mile slow if I went for it, taking the pressure of time off myself, and ended up running my fastest mile of the day. Give yourself 10 minutes and see how you feel; if you can't get in the groove or feel terrible, maybe it's time to give your body a break.
  • Dance. Just dance, baby. That's right. Sometimes I'll get WAY int dancing...kind of like I did below while doing a BodyRock workout during which I fell apart (the dancing comes at the end; the justifying why it's hard as I'm breathless is in the middle). ;)

On pursuing your dreams...
I also wanted to share a few thoughts that have been mulling around my mind for a while, including sharing Mikey and my newest project that we need your help on. Most of you know that my husband and I, in collaboration with Hands On Films and countless prayer, financial, and friend support, have made two films since Mikey was diagnosed: Wrong Way to Hope: A Story of Young Adults and Cancer, and Ebb & Flow: Storytelling for Cancer Survivors. Well, we are currently getting ready to do a new film project this summer because of the incredible response that we have received from these previous films... And guess what? We're going for it!

The new project, Valleys,will be a webseries following the life of one young woman, our friend, named Amy as she and Mikey explore what it means to live with, through and beyond cancer. The project will be filmed on the Grand Canyon Expedition and promises to be full of stunning scenery, in-depth insight into the "Survivorship" phase of a cancer journey and inspiration to live well with and beyond cancer.

The webseries will be available for free on YouTube and will be promoted by numerous cancer support organizations all over North America. We really appreciate all of your support from the past and in helping us spread the word already! But if you would like to partner with us further on this new adventure and learn more about how to get involved. We launched the fundraising on Kickstarter (a great, creative, supportive website and community if you've never checked them out before!) but here's the catch: if you don't raise the full funds that you've created as your goal, you don't get to keep the donations.     I agree with Lindsay's words.. way to push through! Bonnie, I so hope you and Mikey are able to reach your goals and that this dream becomes a reality. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you two are living big and are true examples of fighting for what you believe in.. something that we should all strive for!
