Expedition Facilitator Training
Spend 7 days sailing around the British Columbia Gulf Islands on a 37-foot sailboat while learning all about being a Survive & Thrive Expedition facilitator. The stunning scenery and sailing skills will be our backdrop as we explore all the in’s and out’s of planning and leading an adventure expedition with other young adult cancer survivors. By the end of this trip, you will have a solid understanding of what is necessary to provide young adult cancer survivors with a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. As this is a leadership training program, only participants who wish to become a Survive & Thrive trip leader can attend this trip. It is expected that in the two years after attending this trip you will attend at least one trip as a “peer mentor” (year 1, covering 50% of trip fees) and one trip trip as a “co-facilitator” (year 2, no cost), with the ultimate goal of becoming the “trip leader” of your very own Survive & Thrive Expedition trip by year 3 (receiving a trip facilitator stipend). Limited spots are available and an extensive application and pre-trip interview will be required. There are limited spots available for the Expedition Facilitator Training program an applying will be a competitive process. Not every person who applies will be able to participate.
